When something electrical stops working in your home, the hard part is rarely the fix itself, it is finding the actual cause. A dead outlet might trace back to a tripped GFCI two rooms away, a loose backstab connection, or a worn device that has finally given out. Our licensed and insured electricians troubleshoot the whole circuit rather than swapping parts and hoping, so the problem is solved once instead of returning a month later. We handle electrical repairs across Toronto and throughout the GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, North York, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Markham and Vaughan. The housing here ranges from century homes near downtown with two-prong wiring and the occasional run of old knob-and-tube, to 1960s suburban bungalows with aluminum branch circuits, to new builds where a workmanship issue is the likely culprit. Each of those tells us where to look first. Every repair is done to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and where a repair counts as new work an ESA notification is filed. If we open a wall and find something unsafe, you will hear about it plainly, with options, before we go further. Call (289) 799-3802 to book a repair visit.

How it works / what to expect

We start with a conversation about what is failing, when it started and what is connected to it, which often narrows the circuit before we touch anything. On site we test the affected outlets, switches and the panel to confirm where voltage drops out and why, using meters rather than guesswork. Once we have isolated the fault, we explain what we found, what the repair involves and the cost before doing the work. Most common repairs, such as a failed outlet, switch, dimmer or a single problem connection, are completed in the same visit. If the diagnosis reveals a larger issue, such as a shared neutral, aluminum wiring or an overloaded circuit, we lay out the options so you can decide how far to go. Everything is left tested, labelled where useful, and tidied up.

Cost factors in the GTA

Repair pricing depends on the fault more than the address, so we price after diagnosis rather than over the phone. The main factors are how long it takes to locate the cause, how accessible the wiring and devices are, and how many devices need replacing. A single dead outlet or failed switch is quick and inexpensive; chasing an intermittent fault across a circuit, or working in a finished basement ceiling or a tight century-home wall cavity, takes longer. Parts matter too: a standard receptacle is a few dollars, while a GFCI, smart dimmer or a new breaker costs more. Older Toronto and inner-GTA homes with aluminum wiring or shared neutrals can turn a small repair into a larger correction. We give a clear price before starting, and prices vary by job, so we will not quote a number blind.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my outlet dead when the breaker has not tripped?
The most common cause is a tripped GFCI device somewhere upstream on the same circuit, often in a bathroom, kitchen, garage or outdoors, that has cut power to everything downstream. Other causes are a loose or failed connection inside a device or junction box, or a worn outlet. We trace the circuit to find which it is rather than just replacing the dead outlet, which on its own usually will not fix it.
Are flickering lights dangerous?
Sometimes. A bulb flickering on its own is harmless, but lights that dim or flicker across a room or when appliances start can indicate a loose neutral, an overloaded circuit or a failing connection that generates heat. Loose connections are a real fire risk, so flickering that affects multiple fixtures or comes with warmth or a burnt smell should be checked promptly. Call (289) 799-3802 and we will diagnose it.
Do you serve my area in the GTA?
Yes. We cover Toronto and the surrounding GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, North York, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Markham and Vaughan. If you are nearby and not sure whether you are in our area, just call and ask.
Will a repair need an ESA permit?
Many like-for-like repairs, such as replacing a failed outlet or switch, do not require a permit. New circuits, panel work and most additions to your wiring are notifiable work under the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and require an ESA notification and inspection. We file that when it applies and tell you up front when a repair crosses into permit-required territory.
